I had high expectations for Capitol Pride and DC did not let me down. To kick off the weekend Miss Mikey visited from Florida. It was his first time in the district and Capitol Pride was on his birthday!
While up to a bunch of shenanigans in Logan’s Circle. Unknowing to us it’s where the #NoJusticeNoPride protest started. With police escorting us through the streets. We blocked traffic and chanted down U street.
The #NoJusticeNoPride is a group of activists who are bringing awareness to the individuals further marginalized within the LGBT community. Their members are comprised of black, brown, queer, trans, gender nonconforming, two spirited and together they believe there can be no pride for some of us without liberation for all of us.
The following day was Capitol Pride and Miss Mikey was officially 18!!!!!
A group marching in the parade had water guns. This guy kept squirting water at us. I was wearing a khaki romper and heels. I remember thinking water stains didn’t go with my outfit. But thankfully Christian was shirtless so they went well with his.
Next Pride has a lot to live up to!
